The 3 hectare community park is to occupy part of the present agricultural field behind the Polo Field off Guisborough Road and part of the Polo Field itself. The 3.5 hectare wetland park will occupy the area around the existing ponds and marsh area on the land just south of the railway track. The remainder of the allocated land will be occupied by new housing and road infrastructure.
Both parks will be served by extra-wide public footpaths connecting with the existing public footpath from Guisborough Road to the Bypass. An amount of £100,000 has been obtained from David Wilson Homes as part of their developer’s obligations to develop the park. This amount is presently held by Middlesbrough Council and is ring-fenced for this project on behalf of the Nunthorpe community. The proposal for the parks will be exhibited by the Council when they launch their Housing Masterplan for public consultation, this is likely to be in October/November 2016.
