Drivers please note: New Speed Limits are now in place locally

Our followers will remember that at the end of December we warned that reduced speed limits would be introduced on many roads in Nunthorpe. These new speed limits are now in place – please be aware of the new roadsigns including this one:

New 30 mph speed limit in force This is especially relevant to the significant change made to the A172 Dixons Bank speed limit which has reduced from 40 mph to 30 mph from the Stainton Way/Southern Cross traffic lights all the way via Poole Roundabout, to just beyond the roundabout with the exit to Nunthorpe Village.

In addition to the information we shared before and have repeated below, the whole length of Brass Castle Lane has been now limited to 40mph.

Here’s a repeat of the information we provided last time with the addition of the Brass Castle Lane map:

  • A172 Dixons Bank from the Stainton Way/Southern Cross junction to the turn into Nunthorpe Village – 30 mph (currently 40 mph).
  • From the A172 Old Stokesley Road roundabout to the edge of Nunthorpe village – 30 mph; through Nunthorpe Village (West Side) – 20 mph; continuing from Nunthorpe Village along Old Stokesley Road to the Middlesbrough Boundary (just before the Treebridge Hotel) – 30 mph
  • Church Lane – 20 mph
  • Brass Castle Lane – 40 mph

The following maps show the changes (maps credit Middlesbrough Borough Council, edited).
